About Storto's

Storto's Deli and Sandwich Shoppe in Honolulu is owned and operated by former radio personality Jamie DeMatoff, aka "The Rock Warrior". Located at 3184 Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki, Storto's has a garnered a loyal following with a reputation for fresh ingredients (fresh vegetables and deli meats sliced on the spot every day) and their signature bread baked locally and delivered each day exclusively to Storto's.

The first Storto's, opened in 1977, still operates in its original location across from the North Shore Marketplace in Haleiwa and has become a favorite stop for kamaaina and visitors to the North Shore.

Located at 3184 Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki across from the Kaimuki Shopping Center, Storto's Honolulu is open every day, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday's from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call 739-2009 or email: stortos@gmail.com.

We are so excited to have a Storto's Honolulu shoppe in Kaimuki for the South Shore folks. Great food, air conditioned environment, surf memorabilia and plenty of parking up the ramp and behind the building…we wanted this shop to be a great overall experience for everyone.

I plan to open additional Storto's across the islands beginning with Kapolei (tentatively scheduled to open at the end of 2009), four additional shops on Oahu in 2010 and the outer islands in 2011.

It's all about keeping it fresh and keeping it local. When I came to Hawaii over 26 years ago, Storto's was a place for a good meal and making good friends. In today's marketplace, I want to be able to give back to the community and have a local business offering the same great food and friendly experience that I received.

On September 23, 2005 there was a High Surf Warning issued. At high noon (HST), the waves were felt worldwide as highsurfwarning.com made its debut. This innovative website features the next level in surf and weather forecasting, related news reporting, 10-dayforecasts, mind bending photography, online surf shops, surf ticker, (808)-637-RUSH(7874) surf line and links galore. Not to leave out Wave Watches', Charlie Fox, who does the Video Surf Forecast for the pacific region.

The backbone of the operation of highsurfwarning.com was surf forecasting and wave pioneer of surf evaluation and forecasting, The legendary George Mason. George held the distinction of being the first radio and television weatherman in the Hawaiian Islands, and was the Hawaii forecaster for Surfline for over a dozen years.

George earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences from the University of Hawaii. He also held a Masters of Science degree in Meteorology from UH with his Master's thesis focusing on surf forecasting. George's thesis along with the first regular surf forecast was published in 1975 in the Honolulu Advertiser.

George did numerous weather consulting for many film and television productions including: Windtalkers, Point Break, Jurassic Park, Men of Waimea, Waterworld, George of the Jungle, Mighty Joe Young, 6 Days/7Nights, Hawaii Five-O pilot episode to name a few.

Myself, Jamie DeMatoff " The Rock Warrior " lend my experience in surf forecasting as the lead High Surf Warning team surf "spotter". I have useful talent in both radio and commercial media combined with surf knowledge and forecasting for over 24 years might make me an asset to the High Surf Warning team… I hope :-) I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech from the University of Hawaii in 1989. BTW… I am the proud owner of Storto's Deli in Kaimuki.
